Born in Bukittinggi,West Sumatera on july 6th 1963. first learn about silat from his grandfather Dina mangkuto sati, Balingka'charismatic silat guru's when he reach age of ten. His grandfather taught a fundamentals of silat minangkabau, stances and fencing position. Also known as " langkah ampek" ( four steps) to applied during fight, again the assailant.
Bapak Edwel Yusri was trained by Sidi Bakar from perguruan baringin marapi, in Agam. Also from EnekZainal in West pasaman, pak Gaek Lintau and Datuk kurai in Bukittinggi.
He become a silat instructor for perguruan satria muda indonesia, kostrad Military,the security guard, and a lot of others community who interested with art of minangkabau silat.
Participated at ASEAN silat competition and perform in many International martial art festival. And now Our guru's invited everyone who wants to know more about silat minangkabau, to develop our knowledge, to expand the pencak silat, for glory of our great country.
